portfolio assessments
Teachers at Dreams Daycare Center are required to create and maintain an academic portfolio on each child in their classroom. At the end of each year, portfolios are sent home during our annual Open House Event and new portfolios are created for the upcoming year. Portfolios are a great way to record and observe a child's growth and academic progress throughout the school year. They include Spring and Fall evaluations, as well as mid-year progress reports. Parent-Teacher conferences are held after each evaluation to address a child's strength and future goals to work on. Assessments allow us to test the children in all areas of their development, which in turn, aides teachers to reevaluate classroom curriculum based on each child's developmental level. They provide samples of art work, anecdotal records, photographs, journals, rewards, etc. Information gained during the gathering of this portfolio is confidential and will only be used to benefit the child in all areas of his or her developmental areas.
